The Women into Business Awards 2011 was a huge success with fantastic feedback from over 100 guests.
 
The event featured the announcement of 10 Awards (7 individuals and 3 organisations) and a keynote address from Grainne Kelly, inventor of child safety seat ‘Bubblebum. ’ The event was hosted by Pamela Ballantine, local television presenter.

Enterprise Awards:
 

Rosemary Morrison Directus Training and Consultancy for her tremendous support and enthusiasm for the programme and for always going that extra mile for particpants. Rosemary’s commitment to the programme has without doubt contributed to its massive success.

GEMS NI represented by Stephen Atkinson for their very active promotion of the programme along with their professional and tailored advice service, seminar sessions and regular support.

Grafton Recruitment represented by Gale Sergeant for their assistance in preparing Women into Business members for the world of work through mock interview sessions, interview skills and CV building.
 

Participant Awards:

Skills Development Award - Lisa Simpson following redundancy early last year Lisa Simpson has taken every opportunity that the programme has offered and many more. She broadened her skills base through various aspects of the programme and indeed, went on to complete the Explore Enterprise and the Go For it Programmes.  Congratualtions to Lisa who starts her new job on Monday 11th April 2011!

Innovation Award- Rita Anderson
Also having started her own business, this award winner created a whole new health treatment that combined aromatheraphy, reflexology, reiki, Indian head massge and hot stones! This has proved a big hit with her clients and she is now in the process of setting up a 2nd business to compliment the 1st.  She has demonstrated great innovation.  Congratulations Rita!

Start Your Own Business Award- Amanda Quinn
Setting up an online business selling fun and quirky jewellery isn’t easy. But this award winner has been very pro-active using social media to promote her business and has used the programme to lift her profile and spread the word on ‘Boopydoodle’ to a much wider audience.  Congratulations Amanda! 
 

Employment Award- Sharon Moffitt
Like so many that find themselves without work, getting back on the employment ladder can be a difficult and long process. Sharon used the programme to lift her self-esteem, increase her knowledge and contacts base and ultimately secure full-time employment with ICT InfoTech where she manages their Belfast office. Congratulations Sharon!


Growth Potential Award - Kim Andrews
Having suffered with a debilitating back injury since the age of 25 our Growth Potential Award winner has proved to be a real champion for the disabled in the workplace. With a keen interest in disabled legislation she is now studying for a Law degree with the Open University and she hopes to help many others in this area in the future. Congratulations Kim!

 

Outstanding Progress Award- Sarah Whiteley
Having moved to Northern Ireland from England last year and not having the same personal or professional networks, Sarah used the Women into Business programme as a way of meeting new people and developing those essential networks. After such a personal upheaval she has achieved so much in a short space of time and is now in the process of setting up her own business.  Congratulations Sarah!


Outstanding Participant Award- Reta Wetherall
Programmes like Women into Business work so much better when you have an ambassador who spreads the virtues of the programme far and wide and introduces new people to the programme on a regular basis. This winner has been very pro-active in this respect and has stood out from the crowd in both her endeavours and her enthusiasm. Congratulations Reta!
